DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are investigating a freeway shooting that happened early Friday morning on Detroit's west side.
State troopers received reports from a victim that his vehicle was hit by gunfire as he drove along northbound M-10 at McNichols around 12:30 a.m.
He noticed two speeding vehicles were approaching from behind him in the left lane. The victim said the rear vehicle was possibly a black Dodge Charger, but he couldn't identify the other vehicle.
He then believed he heard gunfire and that a passenger in the Charger was shooting at the other speeding vehicle when a bullet struck the rear window of his vehicle. He did not see the two vehicles exit the freeway.
Police checked with local hospitals and found no recent gunshot victims related to the incident. The freeway was shut down at north M-10 and Wyoming for a shell casing search.
The victim was unharmed in the incident.
Police are urging anyone with information on the shooting to call 734-287-5000 or leave a tip on the mobile app.
