
(WWJ) Livonia Stevenson High School will be closed for in-person instruction the rest of the week because of a growing number of coronavirus cases and students in quarantine.
The district's dashboard shows nine students at Stevenson High School have tested positive for the virus this week. Two others more were infected last week, and WWJ has learned that more than 200 students are in quarantine.
Through March 19, the school is moving to remote instruction, officials said. However, athletic competitions and practices will take place as scheduled.
This news comes the same day officials in the Oxford District said Oxford High School and Middle School will return to remote learning through March 22 after student outbreaks of COVID-19 — blamed on big social gatherings off school grounds. In that district, 295 high school and middle school students are in quarantine.
On Monday, Michigan health officials reported 54 total outbreaks in K-12 schools across the state, including at five schools in Oakland County.
Among those schools with the highest numbers of confirmed cases were Lutheran High Northwest and Our Shepard Lutheran, according to the health department. Other outbreaks were reported at four schools in Wayne County, two in Macomb County, and two in the city of Detroit.

If your institution is listed, MDDHS says your local health department and school are investigating the outbreak and will contact you directly if you (or your minor/child) were possibly exposed to coronavirus on the school grounds.
