NEW BALTIMORE (WWJ) – A support dog is on the mend after Metro Detroit firefighters saved it from a house fire.
The fire broke out at a home in New Baltimore around 6:40 p.m. Thursday and within minutes crews responded to the scene, where they found heavy smoke and big flames.
All people who were inside the home were able to make it out safe, except for a 9-month-old support dog.
The dog was eventually found unresponsive under a bed, according to the fire department.
Fire and police personnel gave the dog oxygen via a pet O2 device carried by the fire department.
The dog, whose name wasn't released, is expected to make a full recovery.
Further circumstances surrounding the fire, including a cause and exact location, were not released.
