(WWJ) -- It’s no secret that people have really strong opinions on how they like their steak cooked.

But a new survey says for some people, it’s a romantic dealbreaker.

In a recent survey of 2,000 people, 50% of respondents say it would be a dealbreaker if someone ordered a well-done steak on a first date, and 56% of Michiganders say they wouldn’t date someone if they like their steak prepared a different way than they do, which is right on-par with the national average.

The study from OnePoll, conducted on behalf JBS USA, also says half of respondents judge everyone -- not just potential romantic partners -- based on their steak choices.

Only 10% of respondents say their preferred steak is well-done, but medium and medium-rare are tied for the most popular, both at 32%.

Other respondents (53%) from the survey say they’ll eat whatever is put in front of them, regardless of how it’s cooked.

Nearly ⅔ of respondents say they insist on manning the grill themselves at cookouts -- with almost 75% of Midwesterners saying they’re the one to take control. That’s by far the highest rate of any region in the U.S.

As for what steak dishes people like the most, it was a three-way tie between Philly Cheesesteaks, beef stroganoff and Korean Bulgogi.
