DETROIT (WWJ) — A cash reward is being offered as Detroit police search for a man who allegedly assaulted a person on the city’s east side last month.
It happened on Thursday, Jan. 4 on Gratiot Avenue near Harper Avenue, according to Detroit police.
Authorities say the suspect “exchanged words” with the victim and then “became irate,” with the argument escalating to violence.
While officials did not say what sparked the initial argument, the suspect allegedly hit the victim with a wooden object, punched, kicked and threw a glass bottle, according to Detroit police.
The suspect then ran from the scene with two other men, officials said.
Officials did not release any information about the victim and it was not clear whether they were injured in the incident.
Authorities have not released a full description of the suspect, but a photo on the Detroit Rewards TV website shows a man with a beard wearing a black jacket, black shirt, dark beanie and red or orange pants.
Detroit Rewards TV is offering a cash reward of $1,000 for tips in the case. Tips can be submitted at detroitrewards.tv and must include the case number: 2301040364.
