SHELBY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- In the very early morning hours on Thursday, Shelby Township police were called to the scene of what could possibly be an attempted ATM robbery.

An investigation is ongoing into the situation at 24 Mile and Schoenherr Roads where officials confirm a truck rammed into the ATM at Alliance Catholic Credit Union in the Stone Bridge Shopping Plaza and then ended up in a small pond behind the plaza.

A witness called 911 around 4 a.m. and reported the incident. The person said there was nobody inside the truck.

Currently, there are K-9 units searching for the person or persons who may be responsible and several police units have been on scene since Thursday morning.

There isn't any word yet on if any money was taken from the ATM.
