NORTHVILLE TWP. (WWJ) – Two suspects are in custody after allegedly robbing a Wayne County mail carrier in broad daylight Tuesday afternoon.
It happened around 12:45 p.m. in the area of Silver Spring Drive and 8 Mile Road in Northville Township, according to police.
The armed suspects, whose identities have not been released, allegedly walked up to the mail carrier, wearing all-black clothes and ski masks, and “forcibly demanded” keys to postal boxes, according to Northville Twp. police officials.
The suspects took the keys to the postal boxes and fled the scene in a newer model, mid-sized Hyundai SUV.
Thanks to the help of Livonia police, the suspects were arrested a short time later after officers spotted the SUV on I-96 near Middlebelt Road.
No injuries were reported during the robbery.
“The Northville Township Police Department expresses its profound gratitude to our dedicated officers and the swift collaboration with the Livonia Police Department, which played a pivotal role in the apprehension of the suspects,” officials said in a press release.
It is not clear what charges the suspects may be facing.
