MACOMB TWP. (WWJ) — Five people have been arrested after allegedly stealing vapes, cigars and donuts from a Macomb County gas station.

It all unfolded around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. That’s when deputies got a call about an armed robbery at the Mobil gas station at the intersection of 21 Mile and Hayes Roads on the border of Macomb and Shelby Townships.

The store clerk told police three men entered the store and walked through the aisles before approaching him and demanding him to “get in the back,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The clerk, believing the men were armed, left the gas station. A short time later he saw the suspects leave the gas station and flee the scene, headed east on 21 Mile, according to police.

The suspects stole more than 85 Breeze Vapes, Black and Mild Swisher Select cigars and Hostess donuts, officials said.

Less than a half hour later deputies were called to a home at the Westbridge Manor mobile home park for a welfare check. The caller told police his girlfriend was unable to leave the home and also said the people responsible for the recent robbery at the gas station were there.

Deputies arrested three men — a 33-year-old from Clinton Township, a 20-year-old from Macomb Twp. and an 18-year-old from Missouri — and an 18-year-old Clinton Twp. woman.

Authorities later arrested a juvenile suspect Wednesday evening. They are being held at the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center.

The sheriff’s office is requesting charges against all five suspects in the case, which is under review by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
