DETROIT (WWJ) Michigan State Police and Detroit Police said they have multiple suspects in custody in an apparent kidnapping on Belle Isle.

According to Michigan State Police (MSP), authorities found a "kidnapping victim" on the island. The victim was discovered after dispatchers informed Detroit Police of a body "possibly" dumped on Belle Isle in the area of Lakeside and Lucern. They received the initial call on Friday, October 17, around 2:30 p.m.

Detroit Police called MSP troopers to assist with the case.

An MSP Metro South sergeant saw a silver Ford Focus-- which matched the description of the suspect vehicle-- leaving the island. Authorities conducted a traffic stop on the Ford Focus on Jefferson Avenue and confirmed the license plate matched the suspect's; MSP said.

After Detroit Police arrived, troopers turned the suspects and the vehicle over to them.

Police then found the kidnapping victim on the east side of the island. No information was released on the victim's gender, age or physical condition. All suspects were "safely" arrested, according to MSP.

"Fortunately, these suspects were taken into custody before someone was seriously hurt," MSP First Lieutenant Mike Shaw said.

Detroit Police continue their investigation.
