WARREN (WWJ) -- Three suspects remain on the run Thursday evening after a shooting in Warren left three schools locked down for several hours.

The "all clear" was given around 5:30 p.m. at the Macomb Community College South Campus, Warren Woods Tower High School and Briarwood Elementary.

All buildings on the MCC campus were under lockdown for about two hours as police investigated a shooting near campus, which happened in the area of Martin and Bunert -- near 12 Mile and Hayes Roads -- around 3:10 p.m., according to Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer.

All students and staff, as well as people living in the area, were all being urged to take shelter as Warren police investigated a shooting near campus.

Officers quickly arrived and found a male victim with several gunshot wounds sitting in the driver’s seat of a blue sedan, which had crashed into the driveway of a nearby home. Officers rendered aid to the man until the Warren Fire Department took him to the hospital.

The victim, whose name and age were not released, remains in critical condition, according to a 7 p.m. update from Dwyer.

Authorities believe there are three male suspects, as witnesses reported seeing them run from the scene after the shooting, which police believe was "not random" and may have stemmed from "some sort of prearranged transaction between the suspect(s) and victim."

The suspects were last seen running through neighborhoods in the area, which prompted the cautionary lockdowns as teams of officers and police K9s searched the area for the suspects.

Ultimately, no suspects were located and the lockdown was then lifted.

Dwyer initially the suspects were described as Black males traveling on foot in the area of Martin and Bunert. One of them was wearing a gray hoodie, and another was wearing a blue hoodie. No further description was given in a later update, but officials expected to have more information in the near future.

If anybody has any information or video of the shooting or any of the suspects fleeing the scene, they are asked contact Detective Price at 586- 574-4729 (bprice@warrenpd.org) or Detective Bechill at 586-574-4713 (wbechill@warrenpd.org).
