(WWJ) Police say a person of interest in a murder and carjacking in Southfield is hospitalized after exchanging gunfire with the victim.
Meanwhile, detectives are searching for two additional suspects who remain at large.
Speaking at a news conference updating the case, Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren said the person of interest, who has a criminal record, was shot in the neck and chest, and went to the hospital just after the incident over the weekend.
He was listed in critical condition on Tuesday.
Police said the victim, 48-year-old Frederic Hudson, was gunned down outside his home on Primary Dr., in the area of I-696 and Franklin, just before 8 p.m. on Sunday. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The suspects, who fled the scene in victim's white 2013 Toyota Tundra following the shooting, There is no description of the suspects at this time.
Barren said investigators do not believe this crime was a random act of violence. "We believe that Mr. Hudson was targeted and followed home, where he was fatally assaulted," the chief said.
