LIVONIA (WWJ) An SUV crashed into a home in Livonia early this President’s Day morning with two residents inside.
Married couple Cheryl and Tony Facione said it happened around 3:20 a.m. Monday at their house on Iowa, near Merriman and Joy.
They told WWJ the speeding SUV hit the curb, went airborne, and crashed through the living room wall.
Cheryl Facione recalled the moment.
“We just heard a big boom and then a beeping. It was from the guy’s car,” Facione said.
She said their home was badly damaged.
“It took out our flag, and then went through the living room, went through kitchen, and into the breakfast nook. If you saw the breakfast nook, the breakfast nook is pretty bad!” Facione told WWJ’s Charlie Langton.
Their own son, a captain with the Livonia fire department, was among the firefighters who responded to the scene.
“He showed up, which was sweet,” Facione said.
Livonia Police and Fire pulled the driver from the wreckage of his car. He is hospitalized in serious condition.
