TAYLOR (WWJ) – The search is on for the driver of a car involved in a Downriver drive-by shooting last month.

Taylor police are asking for tips from the public in identifying the driver of a silver Pontiac G5 or G6, suspected in a shooting on Sept. 27.

Officials say the victim was in the area of Telegraph Road and I-94 when someone inside the Pontiac, unprovoked, opened fire.

Despite being shot four times, officials say the victim was able to pull out their phone and get a picture of the suspect’s car as it fled.

Authorities have not released any information about the victim, including name, age or condition after the shooting.

Police officials say the four-door Pontiac G5 or G6 has a vanity dealer plate attached to the rear and possibly a temporary license plate in the rear window.

Anyone who recognizes the car or knows something about the shooting is asked to call Detective Matthew Oliver at (734) 287-6611 Ext. 2015.
