DETROIT (WWJ) — A teenager has been arrested in connection with a quadruple shooting at a park last week on Detroit's west side that injured two young children and two 18-year-old women, one of whom is pregnant.

At a Monday press conference Detroit Police Chief James White announced a 16-year-old boy is in custody in connection with the May 1 shooting at Stein Park, but the case remains open as police work to identify other possible suspects.

The juvenile's name has not been released and White was tight-lipped on many details surrounding the investigation.

Authorities said last Friday they believe the shooting stemmed from two women arguing, and a friend of one the two involved in the dispute returned to the park with a gun. The children, ages 3 and 6, who were shot were bystanders in the park with their families that night.

White said Monday the pregnant woman remains in critical condition and it appears her unborn child will survive.

The two other children are expected to make a full recovery. The fourth victim's condition was not clear.

"They are expected to make a full recovery, so we're pretty happy about that," White said of the two children who were caught in the crossfire. "But I mean, still, two children shot, very traumatic and they will have to live with that for the rest of their lives."

White said while authorities are "looking at one other suspect," authorities do not feel the community is at further risk.
