OXFORD TWP. (WWJ) -- A Clarkston teenager is facing charges for allegedly shooting another teen at a party at a park in Oxford Township Friday night.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said 16-year-old was scheduled to appear at Children's Village on Monday to face charges stemming from the shooting, which happened at around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 8 at Oakwood Lake Township Park.

Authorities said the teen shot a 17-year-old victim after they got into an argument at the party because the suspect kept pointing a laser in the victim's face.

Officials said the alleged shooter, whose name has not been released, fled the scene after firing shots. He was arrested at a mobile home park the following day by members of the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team.

“This is unacceptable on so many levels,” Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said, in a statement. “Our detectives will continue their hard work to determine how and where he illegally obtained this firearm and we will seek to hold him accountable.”

The victim was treated and released from the hospital.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting, or who has information about the events leading up to it, are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4950.
