(WWJ) A Livingston County teen has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in Pontiac.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said deputies made the arrest Saturday. The boy, 17, was taken into custody at his home in Genoa Township.

The Sheriff said the murder happened during a drug transaction to buy less than one pound of marijuana.

Deputies and paramedics arrived on Thorpe near Liberty around 8:30 p.m. Friday to find a young man, 18, lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Oakland County Sheriff.

Authorities said the teen in custody was a passenger in the backseat of the car, from which the fatal shot was fired.

The male driver, 19, and a teen girl, 17, both from Brighton, were taken in for questioning. They were released pending further investigation.

Detectives found a "small amount" of marijuana in the backyard of an abandoned home on Thorpe. They also recovered the gun believed to be used in the shooting.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned Monday afternoon or Tuesday.
