HAMTRAMCK (WWJ) -- A search is underway for a suspect in a double shooting that wounded two teenagers in Hamtramck overnight.

According to police, a 17-year-old girl was grazed in the head by a bullet and a 16-year-old boy was shot in the torso.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Mike Campbell said the victims were described as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Both teens taken to a local hospital for treatment.

While their is no update on their condition at this time, Hamtramck Police Chief Jamil Altahari said he believes both will survive.

The police chief said the shooting appeared to stem from a dispute, but he didn't offer any more details about that.

Investigators said they have strong leads on the suspected shooter because they have good relations with residents in the neighborhood: the Colonel Hamtramck public housing off I-75 and Caniff.
