(WWJ) A Detroit teenager is facing criminal charges related to a September crash that left two Oak Park High School students dead and four others injured.

Southfield police said Friday that 17-year old Ramone Cortez Hampton has been charged with three felony counts: two counts of reckless driving causing death, and one count of reckless driving causing serious injury.

According to investigators, Hampton was driving a Cadillac SRX that went off Telegraph Rd. near 10 Mile Rd. and rolled over the night of Friday, Sept. 18.

JaQai Garrett, 16, and DeRell Blackmon, 17, died in the wreck. The four other teens who were in the car are recovering.

Hampton turned himself at the Southfield Police Department and was arraigned on Thursday. Bond was set at $25,000/10% cash or surety, and preliminary exam was scheduled for Dec. 21.

A reckless driving causing death charge carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
