DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police are investigating after a teenage girl was found shot to death inside an abandoned and stolen car on the city’s west side Wednesday morning.
Police were called to the 8800 block of Burnette – near Joy Road and Prairie – around 10 a.m., where they found the teen inside a 2013 Chevy Malibu. A neighbor called it in after discovering the girl’s body, police said.
The girl, who had been shot multiple times, has not yet been identified. Authorities believe she was about 16 years old.
It was unclear whether this was related to another case Detroit police are investigating in which a man had his 2013 Chevy Malibu stolen by a woman and two men on Monday.
Detroit police officials told WWJ there were no updates on the carjacking case and could not confirm whether the stolen car was the same one the teen girl was found dead in.
Anyone with information on either crime is asked to call Detroit police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You can remain anonymous.
