OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) - Two older teenagers from Pontiac were taken into police custody after trying to flee from deputies in a stolen car Wednesday evening.

The Oakland County Sherriff's Office said deputies on patrol first noticed a Black Chevy Cruze matching the description of a stolen vehicle from Waterford around 5:30 p.m. near Barkell Ave. and Markle.

Officers followed the vehicle as it pulled into a driveway and confirmed it was the stolen Chevy from Waterford, OCSO said.

As other deputies arrived on scene, the driver of the stolen vehicle took off, accelerating at high speed through backyards and ramming through fences in an attempt to lose police.

Deputies kept the vehicle in sight while following the direction the driver was heading; two guns were tossed from the Chevy while it tried to get away.

OCSO said deputies retrieved the two weapons while other officers continued the pursuit.

The driver lead deputies to Stirling Lakes Estates in Pontiac before breaking in the middle of the road where four occupants exited the vehicle and took off running.

The area was scoured by deputies and two of the four occupants were apprehended. Both were male residents of Pontiac; one was 17-years-old and the other was 15-years-old.

Authorities said the teens' parents were contacted. The suspects refused questioning at the substation and were taken to Children's Village in Pontiac.

Detectives from the Auto Theft has taken over the investigation which remains ongoing.
