
MONROE COUNTY (WWJ) - Authorities are searching for a suspect who they say stole two rings from a jewelry store in Monroe on Wednesday afternoon.
The Monroe Police Department said officers were dispatched around 2:44 p.m. in response to a hold-up alarm triggered at Carroll Och's Jewelers on N. Telegraph Rd.
Officers determined two engagement rings valued at $20,000 to $30,000 apiece were stolen by a male suspect.



According to witnesses and surveillance video obtained by police, a man entered the store just before 2:40 p.m. and asked an female employee for help viewing some engagement rings. The clerk brought the jewelry out and was assisting the man when he suddenly reached over the counter and "violently" pried the rings from her hands.
Police said the suspect left bruises and minor cuts on the woman's fingers and palms before he ran out of the store.
The man got into the passenger seat of a new model white Chevrolet Malibu and took off, heading northbound on N Telegraph Road.

The Monroe Police Department has asked for help identifying the suspect or the vehicle connected to this crime. Anyone with any information is being asked to contact Detective/Captain Dickerson at 734-243-7524.
