DETROIT (WWJ) - At least two vehicles were wrecked early Tuesday morning after thieves allegedly attempted to steal them from Stellantis' Jefferson North Plant in Detroit, the automaker said.
WWJ's Ryan Marshall was on scene at just off Conner Street in the city where two white Dodge Durangos could be seen crashed up against a chain link fence. The attempted theft was first reported around 12:30 a.m.
It is currently unknown if any other vehicles were involved and whether or not police have any suspects in custody.
Stellantis said in a statement that they are cooperating with local law enforcement regarding the incident, which remains an active investigation this hour.
"Stellantis is working with the Detroit Police Department regarding the attempted theft of several vehicles early Tuesday morning from the Detroit Assembly Complex - Jefferson plant," the company said in a statement. "As this is an open investigation, the Company is not providing any additional comment."
