CHETERFIELD TWP. (WWJ) -- Three schools in northern Macomb County were put under a hold on Thursday — with no one allowed to enter or exit the building — due to a police situation nearby.
The impacted schools were Lottie, Middle School South, and Naldrett, in the Anchor Bay School District.
The hold at the schools was activated shortly after 12:30 p.m., and was lifted as of 2 p.m., the district said. Students were kept inside for indoor recess, just as a precaution.
In an update, Chesterfield Township police said information that this situation was happening at Brandenburg Park was incorrect.
In fact, police said they were dealing with a person experiencing a mental health crisis at apartment complex located north of the park along Jefferson Avenue, near the schools.
Police said the person is now in the care of medical personnel and is safe.
New Baltimore Police are handling the ongoing investigation. No further details were released.
