WALES TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- St. Clair County authorities say they found a large amount of methamphetamine and a knife after an investigation and search, leading the arrest of multiple people.

Authorities say a home on the 2600 block of Kilgore Road in Wales Township was the subject of an investigation into methamphetamine sales by the St. Clair County Drug Task Force. One of the residents of the home, Nichole Nazario, was the focus of the investigation.

Officials with the St. Clair County Sheriff's office said they initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that Nazario was driving on Nov. 29 at 1:20 a.m., while she was driving on I-69. Police found a "large quantity of methamphetamine and a throwing knife” during a search of the vehicle.

The stop was assisted by St. Clair County K-9 "Brock."

Nazario was arrested and taken to the St. Clair Clair County Intervention and Detention Center.

At 3 p.m. on Nov. 29, a search warrant was executed at the address on Kilgore that Nazario had been residing at. The property is owned by John Fiks. More methamphetamine was found on the property, police said.

Both Fiks and Theresa Vanerp were detained, along with other individuals that were living in the home or in campers on the property. The other people have not been named at this time.

Fiks and Vanerp were both arrested for possession of methamphetamine and also taken to the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center.

During a search conducted at the jail, it was found that Vanerp had multiple Suboxone strips hidden on her person, and she was charged with smuggling contraband into a jail.

All three suspects were arraigned on Dec. 1 and received bonds of $10,000 each.
