DETROIT (WWJ) -- Three Detroit men were charged and arraigned on First Degree Murder and other felonies for a drive-by shooting that killed a 6-year-old boy.

Police said Rylee Love was killed when a wayward bullet from the drive-by shooting entered his east side home and struck him in the head while he was playing in a bedroom. The shooting happened on July 27, just before 9 p.m., on Anglin, in the area of McNichols and Joseph Campau.

Demontrel Wilson, 30, Deonate Cherry, 28, and Terrence Blue were also charged with Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Discharge Firearms from a Vehicle Causing Death, and Discharging a Weapon from a Vehicle Causing Death. Wilson and Blue received charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.

Police said, on the night of the shooting, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Anglin Street at Stender Avenue for reported shots fired. Officers were flagged down by relatives to a home on Anglin Street regarding a child who had been shot. They found Rylee in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to his head. Medics arrived on the scene to provide care. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors allege the three men fired handguns multiple times from a vehicle into a group of people standing near the intersection of Anglin Street and Stender Avenue. The stray bullets traveled less than half a mile to Rylee's home and hit him.

Officers arrested the men on Wednesday, August 20, following a Detroit Police investigation.

They were arraigned on Saturday, August 23, and remanded to jail. They are due back in court for a probable cause conference on September 2, and a Preliminary Examination on September 9.

“Rylee Love was the ultimate innocent victim. The alleged actions of these defendants directly caused his senseless death," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy. "I have said many times that bullets have no eyes or sense of direction. The bullets in this case struck a child playing in his house and he will not see another day."
