PONTIAC, Mich. (WWJ) – Three people are in custody after the apparent murder and torture of a homeless man in Pontiac last week.
A 51-year-old Pontiac man's body was found nude and wrapped in a blanket and plastic bags near the shoreline of Terry Lake on Friday afternoon, according to a report from Fox 2 in Detroit.
A 911 caller told police they had found a dead person lying in the grass near the 100 block of S. Merrimac Street. The victim was mostly covered, except for a leg and an arm being exposed, according to the report.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard called the crime "absolutely despicable."
Three people who were considered "persons of interest" in the case were reportedly taken into custody for the murder.
No details about those in custody were immediately released.
Authorities have not released many details about the case, including the victim's name, a cause of death, or a possible motive.
Police say it was unclear whether the victim knew the people who were taken into custody.
Authorities said it was possible the victim had money that the suspects were after that.
