
PINE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) — Troopers said three people are in the hospital after a pickup truck crossed over into an oncoming lane and crashed into a horse-drawn buggy in Montcalm County on Thursday morning.
According to Wood TV, Michigan State Police responded to the cash which happened along M-91 close to Briggs Road in Pine Township, just north of Greenville.
Investigators said they believed the driver of a pickup truck, who was heading southbound on M-91, drifted across the centerline into oncoming traffic before colliding with a horse-drawn Amish buggy.
The crash killed the horse while the driver of the buggy was airlifted to a hospital for emergency medical care — police said he is in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.
A passenger in the buggy sustained serious injuries and was transported by an ambulance to the hospital.
Police said the the driver of the pick up truck was also taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
No further information was released by authorities.
