DETROIT (WWJ) A shooting on Detroit's west side left three dead and four injured, police said.
Detroit Police said it happened on Sunday, September 27, at 7:20 a.m. at an "after hours location" on Prest, in the area of Greenfield and Fenkell.
"Officers arrived on scene within four minutes... where it was three individuals suffering from fatal wounds," Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said during a press briefing. "Individuals at the scene were trying to give aid."
According to Bettison, all three victims were men in their 30s.
Four surviving victims, two men and two women, were privately conveyed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Bettison said someone tried to "settle (a fight) with gun violence", adding officers have responded to seven calls at the crime scene since January.
"I also have an investigation into this address as well..." Bettison said. "I will tell you that, regardless of what was going on at that particular location, no one deserves to have their life ended or be wounded by gun violence."
Authorities have not released the victims' names.
Police have not made any arrests. However, Bettison says that will change soon: "Know that we will identify the individuals who are responsible for this heinous incident...and we will do that in short order."
Police say they had a pre-existing investigation at the crime scene and had responded to multiple calls there this year.
