DETROIT (WWJ) An airborne crash on the Lodge in Detroit left three people dead.
Michigan State Police (MSP) said the crash occurred on Sunday, November 1, at approximately 2 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway near Wyoming.
According to MSP, their investigation indicates the driver was traveling south when she failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle left the freeway, traveled up an embankment and through shrubbery. It then went airborne and landed on the entrance ramp to SB M-10 from Wyoming, and struck a concrete barrier.
Authorities said alcohol and speed are likely factors in the crash.
The driver and both passengers died from their injuries. All three were females from the city of Detroit. Their ages and names were not released.
