BATH TWP. (WWJ) -- Federal and local investigators are continuing to gather information from the site of a plane crash in Clinton County that killed three people.
The Federal Aviation Administration was called in to investigate Thursday evening, after a small aircraft went down near the intersection of Clark and Peacock roads in Bath Township.
Emergency crews first responded to the site around 5 p.m. on Oct. 16, where smoke could be seen billowing into the sky.
Soon after, Bath Township advised residents to avoid the the site, which is northeast of Lansing.
Investigators say the plane departed from Battle Creek Executive Airport after undergoing maintenance.
A woman walking in the area said she saw the plane flying out of control before it crashed in a wooded area.
Those who died were two pilots and a maintenance worker from Mexico. Those three were the only people on board, and there were no injuries reported to anyone on the ground.
Federal Aviation Administration investigators will work up a final report on what caused the crash. The investigations usually take months to complete.
No named were released.
