(WWJ) After surveying the area, the National Weather Service in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has confirmed three tornadoes touched down during Monday's storms.

According to a damage survey released Friday, "Multiple supercells occurred on July 20, 2026 in central Upper Michigan. These storms produced large hail, heavy rain, and wind damage. Public photos and video, drone footage provided by the public and the Delta and Menominee County Sheriff Departments, and on-the-ground storm surveys estimate at least 3 tornadoes occurred."

First, the NWS said an EF-U tornadic waterspout was spotted in Shot Point, near Marquette. Video and radar evidence suggest it then moved ashore at Shot Point. EF-U means the maximum wind speeds are unknown. No damage was reported.

The other two tornedoes Monday, NWS said, were both rated EF-1 in Gourley Township both Bark River, both west of Escanaba. There was some tree damage in both of those areas, but no injuries reported.

These three added bring Michigan's statewide tornado total for 26 for the year.
