Three teens shot in Detroit in less than 24 hours, one killed

(WWJ) Three separate shootings in Detroit killed one teen and left two others fighting for their lives, all within less than 24 hours of each other.

Police say a 16-year-old boy was shot on Edmore near Redmond and 8 Mile around 9:40 p.m. Friday.

He died at the hospital later that night. The suspect remains on the run.

Another teen is in critical condition after he was caught in the crossfire of another shooting on Detroit’s east side.

Police say the 14-year-old found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time when the two suspects opened fire around 2 p.m. Friday on Houston Whittier, near Gratiot and Outer Drive.

WXYZ reports police think the shooting may have stemmed from an altercation between groups.

Police told WWJ one of the suspects, 28, was taken into custody.

About six hours later; a 16-year-old boy was struck in another round of gunfire on Dexter at Joy Road, according to Detroit Police. No arrests have been made.

He is in critical condition.

There is no evidence at this point that the shootings are related.
