DETROIT (WWJ) — Detroit sports fans have been riding a tidal wave of excitement in recent weeks as the Lions are off to a 3-1 start and the Tigers have surged to become baseball’s hottest team since mid-August.

The Tigers beat the Cleveland Guardians in Game 3 of the ALDS on Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park to take a 2-1 lead in the series. It was the city’s first home playoff game in a decade and fans have been fired up for the occasion.

That includes comedian and Metro Detroit native Tim Meadows, who’s in town this week for a comedy show in Pontiac. He wasted no time jumping at the opportunity to see his “Gritty Tigs” back in the postseason at Comerica.

Meadows said, as a well-known actor, he has “very special websites” to help him get tickets.

“Ticketmaster. SeatGeek. I don’t know if you’ve heard of those. They’re exclusively for celebrities,” Meadows joked during an interview with WWJ Newsradio 950’s Ryan Wrecker.

“No man, I do it like everybody else. I’ve met people with the Tigers and the Pistons and I’ve never called them and went, ‘Hey, can you give me courtside tickets?’ Because they still want you to pay; they don’t give ‘em to me for free,” he said.

“If I was Chris Rock, they’d be like, ‘yeah, come on Chris Rock, we’ll give you free tickets,’” he said with a laugh.

Meadows, a Wayne State University alum, is in town to host the Comedy Caucus, a political fundraiser comedy show Saturday night in Pontiac at the Flagstar Strand Theatre. More details on the event can be found here.
