(WWJ) Democratic vice presidential nominee Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will be in Michigan later this week, marking his second visit to the crucial swing state since joining the ticket.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Beth Fisher reports Walz will visit the Great Lakes state on Thursday and Friday as part of an eight state battleground tour, as confirmed by the Harris-Walz campaign.

The tour comes as polls show Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump are virtually neck-and-neck, and will follow the much-anticipated presidential debate scheduled for Tuesday night.

According to reports, Walz will host a campaign event in Grand Rapids on Thursday, Sept. 12, then participating in political events in that city the next morning. The afternoon of Friday, Sept. 13, he's expected to campaign in Lansing before moving on to Wisconsin.

Walz was last in Michigan soon after he was announced as Harris' running mate. They appeared in front of thousands of supporters in a hanger at Detroit Metro Airport, then meeting with UAW members in Detroit the following day.

Harris visited Michigan on Labor Day when she spoke with union members gathered at a Detroit high school.

Trump was last in Michigan two weeks ago, speaking both at a National Guard Conference in Detroit and at a steel plant south of Lansing.
