EASTPOINTE (WWJ) -- A little boy has been reunited with his mother after he was found wandering the streets of Eastpointe in the middle of the night.
Around 3 a.m. on Thursday, Eastpointe officers were dispatched to the area of Valley Avenue and 10 Mile Road with reports of a young child walking alone down the street.
Upon arrival, officers found a young boy, around the age of 2 to 3 years old wearing only a diaper and oversized rainbow Crocs.
The boy was apparently found by a local man at 10 Mile Road and Stephens Highway, who then posted a video on the Facebook page Crime in the D to try and locate the child’s parents.
The child was later taken to the Eastpointe police station, and Child Protective Services was contacted.
A few hours later, the mother arrived at the Eastpointe police station, and was reunited with her son.
After being questioned by police, it was determined that the mother had fallen asleep, and her child got out of the house and walked about five blocks before he was found.
No charges were filed against the mother, and the child was released into her custody just before 9 a.m. on Thursday.
Meanwhile, another little boy was found this morning alone on the streets of Warren.
Warren Police Commission William Dwyer tells WWJ that the child -- believed to be around 3 years old -- was discovered walking on East 8 Mile Road near Memphis Avenue.
Officers canvassed the neighborhood and were able to locate the boy's home. He is now safely back with his family.
