Tolls at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel increase to $9 starting next Monday

(WWJ) People who use the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will be paying more starting next Monday, January 5.

The toll rates for those traveling from Detroit to Windsor is jumping $0.75 to $9.00 for those who pay with a credit or debit card.  The rates for Nexpress users will jump to $6.75 each trip, also an increase of $0.75

“This small toll increase will help us keep the Detroit–Windsor Tunnel running safely, reliably, and efficiently as we manage higher operating and maintenance costs,” said Regine Beauboeuf, CEO of American Roads, which operates the U.S. side of the Tunnel, in a statement. “Even with this change, the Tunnel is still the most affordable way to cross the border and continues to offer a safe and dependable experience for our customers.”

The toll to cross the Ambassador Bridge from Detroit to Windsor is also $9.00.

There are approximately 12,000 vehicles that use the tunnel daily.
