Tornado causes damage to several homes in Lenawee County

LENAWEE COUNTY (WWJ) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Lenawee County on Sunday night.

Forecasters say the EF-1 tornado had peak winds of 90 miles per hour, and was on the ground for more than 2.5 miles in the southeast portion of the county in Riga Township near Blissfield.

The tornado damaged at least five homes, three barns and four other buildings.

Numerous trees were also uprooted and snapped. One piece of sheet metal from a silo was found a quarter mile away from its location.

There were no injuries reported in the incident.
