(WWJ) A Tornado Warning has been issued for Macomb County, St. Clair and Oakland County.
Residents in the path of the storm should take cover now in the interior room of the lowest floor of a sturdy building. If you are in a mobile home, vehicle, or outdoors, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
A confirmed tornado touched down at Armada just after 8 p.m.
The National Weather Service said another confirmed tornado was located near Clarkston or 8 miles west of Pontiac, shortly after, moving east at 15 mph.
They appear to be two separate twisters.
The National Weather Service said the tornado will be near Pontiac around 8:35 p.m. Troy and Birmingham around 8:45. Other Oakland County locations that could be impacted by the tornado include Bloomfield Hills, Keego Harbor, Waterford, Bloomfield Township, White Lake, Clawson, Sylvan Lake, and Lake Angelus.
The warning is in effect for Macomb County until at least 8:30 p.m and for Oakland until 10 p.m.
Wayne County has not been included in the warning, but social media posts say a tornado has been spotted a mile south of Detroit around 8:15 p.m. State Police said they had unconfirmed reports of a tornado touchdown at the Lodge and Davison.
