NOVI (WWJ) - Pots, pans, tents and stoves -- all that and more was stolen from an Oakland County Boy Scouts troop when they discovered thieves took a whole trailer full of camping supplies this week.

Members of Troop 54 in Novi became aware of the theft after gathering for their weekly meeting at Novi Methodist Church, at 9 Mile and Meadowbrook, and realized one of their three trailers was missing.

"I really don’t know if they wanted just the trailer or what’s inside, maybe thinking there was something valuable," Boy Scout Aiden Van Devender said via FOX 2.

According to the troop, the trailer was full of gear and supplies the boys need for their monthly camping trips -- and all of it was bought through the troop's dedicated fundraising efforts.

Parents said the boys worked hard to purchase the items, such as stoves, pots and pans. The camping trips are a big highlight to scouting.

"This is a big loss," Aiden's mother, Julie Van Devender, told FOX2.

The troop has asked the public to be on the lookout if they happen to see the trailer. In the meantime, they are taking extra precautions to ensure the security of the other remaining items.

Anyone who has any information about the stolen trailer has been asked to contact the troop at troop54novi@gmail.com.
