EASTPOINTE (WWJ) -- An Eastpointe man has been ordered to trial in Macomb County Circuit Court on charges for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a child.
According to investigators, on September 22 of this year, 52-year-old Andrew Logan Williams grabbed a 12-year-old girl who was walking down the sidewalk, took her inside his house and sexually assaulted her.
The child ultimately ran from the home and got help from a neighbor, who called police.
Prosecutors said Williams abandoned his home and fled to New York, but was found and extradited back to Michigan with the help of U.S. Marshals.
Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said the girl did know her attacker.
"There was a familiarity of who this individual was," Lucido said. "And, yes, there was a litany of these licensed psychologists to make sure that the child is going to be OK and has all the support in place at that time that it was learned to be this individual."
On Tuesday, Williams was was arraigned before Circuit Court Judge James M. Maceroni on two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct (person under 12, defendant 17 or older) — which is punishable by up to life in prison. He's also charged with kidnapping, which is also a life felony.
"We're looking to see that justice is going to prevail, and we're gonna pursue to case with diligence," Lucido said. "Although Mr. Williams is innocent until proven guilty, in this case here he'll have his day in court, and so will we."
Williams remains held without bond in the Macomb County Jail where he awaits a pretrial conference set for Feb. 3, 2026.
