TROY (WWJ) -- A suspect from Highland Park is behind bars in Oakland County after it's alleged he entered a private home uninvited, and robbed the resident.

Troy Police said the incident happened last Thursday afternoon, in the 4400 block of Livernois Rd. in Troy.

Shortly after 3:15 p.m., the victim called police to report that he was getting out of the shower when he was surprised be a man he didn't know inside his house.

The suspect then cornered the resident and demanded his wallet.

Police said the victim was able to escape to a neighbor's house where he called 911.

The suspect was trying to flee the scene on a bicycle, police said, when he was intercepted by officers.

When the 53-year-old man was taken into custody, officers found multiple pieces of items of jewelry as well as watches in his pants pockets, according to the police report.

The suspect was then identified by the victim as the intruder he'd found in his home, police said.

The Highland Park man was taken to the Troy Police lock-up where he was booked on a charge of Home Invasion - first degree, which is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

His name was not immediately released.
