
(WWJ/AP) State and federal authorities are investigating the death of a Troy, Michigan man in a skydiving accident in New Jersey.
New Jersey State Police say they responded to the Alexandria Field Airport in Pittstown, a town about 30 miles northeast of Albany New York, for medical assistance around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, they found the skydiver in the field near the airport runway. It’s unclear what caused the accident.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The skydiver was identified as Brandon Jackson, 37, of Troy.
The Federal Aviation Administration is participating in the investigation.
An FAA spokesperson said their investigation will focus on inspecting the packing of the parachute, along with the rules of flight for the pilot and aircraft.
