ROYAL OAK (WWJ) -- A Detroit man has been arrested for allegedly shooting at a car in Royal Oak with two women inside.
Royal Oak Police said two women walked into the police department and said gunfire struck their vehicle on Sunday, September 27, at 8:40 p.m. They told police the shooting happened at the intersection of East Fifth Street at Williams Street, near Main Street.
The bullets did hit the car, but no one in the vehicle was hit, according to police.
The victims told officers that, prior to the shooting, one of them had gotten into a physical fight with another woman.
Officers with Royal Oak and Troy Police located and arrested both suspects "without incident", according to authorities.
Rico Decarlos Jones Junior, 20, of Detroit was charged with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder, a 10-year-felony, and two felony firearm charges. He's due back in court on October 9.
Officers also arrested a 19-year-old Troy woman, but released her pending further investigation.
"Fortunately no one was seriously injured or killed," Police Chief Michael Moore said. "Thanks to some outstanding collaboration and hard work by our investigators, these dangerous suspects were quickly identified and arrested."
