WESTLAND (WWJ) Two people died in an apparent murder-suicide in Westland, police said.

Westland Police told WWJ's Mike Campbell a man called police overnight on Tuesday, April 15-- and told them he shot his girlfriend, and was planning to take his own life.

Officers found a man and a woman dead at the home on Surrey Heights near John Hix and Palmer roads.

Neighbors told Campbell they never saw evidence of strife in the couple's relationship. Police have not given information on the circumstances leading up the shooting, or a potential motive.

The names of the deceased were not released.
