FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) A large fire broke out at a home in Farmington Hills.
The Farmington Hills Fire Department said the fire started on Tuesday around 3:30 a.m. in a two-story home in the Preserves at Meadowbrook subdivision on Marshview at Rhonswood, in the area of 8 Mile and I-275.

Three to four people inside escaped, fire officials said.
"They did have working smoke alarms, and that's a very good thing. We want to promote that, and that's probably why they were able to get out safely," Farmington Hills Fire Marshal Jason Baloga told WWJ's Mike Campbell.

One of the residents drove himself to the hospital for minor injuries. A firefighter was also injured, but is expected to fully recover; according to fire officials.

Fire officials told WWJ that the heat from the fire caused damage to the siding of a neighboring home. They said a dryer fire may have sparked the flames, but the cause remains under investigation.
