MACKINAC COUNTY (WWJ) A crash between a train and a pickup truck injured two people in the Upper Peninsula.
Michigan State Police said it happened on Saturday, September 26, at 9:35 a.m. in Harrison Township, about 60 miles northwest of St. Ignace.
According to authorities, the driver of the pickup truck ignored a traffic signal at the railroad crossing on Borgstrom Road near Black River Road. He failed to yield to the train, causing the crash.
The 34-year-old driver from Newberry and a juvenile passenger both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They remain hospitalized for treatment at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital.
No one on the train was hurt.
Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol are contributing factors.
