RAISIN TWP., MICH. (WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide of two young people in Raisin Township, about 20 miles west of Dundee.
State Police say troopers from their Monroe Post were called to the scene on Laberdee near Wilmoth Highway last Wednesday around 9:20 p.m. for reports of shots fired at the home.
When they arrived, they found two young men dead at the scene. They were identified as Joseph Niblack, 24, from the state of Florida and Michael Madero, 25, of Raisin Twp.
Witnesses told investigators the two got into an argument, and Niblack shot Madero before taking his own life.
The two were "longtime friends," according to witnesses.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear. Anyone with additional information on the shooting is asked to call the Monroe Post at (734) 242-3500.
CORRECTION: STATE POLICE ORIGINALLY LISTED ONE OF THE VICTIMS AS KENYA DIONNE NIBLACK. HOWEVER, THEIR CORRECTED RELEASE NAMES JOSEPH NIBLACK AS THE VICTIM, NOT KENYA DIONNE. IT IS UNCLEAR HOW THE MISTAKE OCCURRED.
