HIGHLAND TWP (WWJ) A crash in Highland Township left two motorcyclists in critical condition.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on North Milford Road near White Lake Road, on Saturday, June 27th shortly before 5 p.m.

Sheriff's officials tell WWJ deputies responded to North Milford Road, at Wind Valley Lane, after multiple 911 reports of a serious crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed a BMW was traveling southbound on North Milford Road and attempted to turn into a private driveway.

At the same time, two motorcycles traveling in the opposite direction slammed into the car. The impact threw the motorcyclists--a 21-year-old and 26-year-old, both from Grand Blanc--from their bikes.

First responders rushed them to the hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

The BMW driver, a 28-year-old Fenton resident, was not hurt and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Both motorcyclists wore DOT-approved helmets and "additional protective riding gear", authorities said.

Investigators do not believe alcohol and drugs played a role in the crash.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation.
