DETROIT (WWJ) Two people died when a speeding SUV crashed into a bus stop, before slamming into a gas station, on Detroit's west side, police said.
Detroit Police said the crash happed Friday, April 25, just after 7 p.m. at Evergreen and Fenkell as a gray SUV traveled at "a high rate of speed."
"The vehicle veered over into the northbound of lanes of (Evergreen) and into a bus stop area where two pedestrians were seated," Detroit Police Commander Ryan Connor said. "The vehicle struck both pedestrians."
The SUV "continued its travel" to the BP Gas Station on the northeast corner of Evergreen and Fenkell, according to Connor.
"(The car) struck another vehicle that was parked at the pump," Connor said.
The suspect, a woman, was arrested at the scene.
The victims were described as a "middle-aged" man and woman. Their names were not released.
Detroit Police Fatal Squad Unit is investigating the crash.
