(WWJ) The metro Detroit office of a member of Congress is closed after a break-in.
A spokesperson for U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell (MI-12), said it happened at Dingell's Dearborn office in her district, and that police are investigating.
“Today, Congresswoman Dingell’s Dearborn office was broken into and vandalized," said Dingell spokesperson Mackenzie Smith. "The Dearborn Police Department responded immediately after notification, and the United States Capitol Police are assisting in the investigation. Team Dingell staff members are safe and were not physically present in the office today given a previous fire in the building. The Dearborn office at 19855 W Outer Drive will remain physically closed as the investigation continues.”
Talking to WWJ's Sandra McNeill, Dingell said someone used a fire extinguisher to break through a plate glass window. She thanked police, who responded quickly, and said she was glad that none of her staffers were hurt.

The Congresswoman believes that this may have been someone with a personnel vendetta.
"They did not take computers or televisions, so (police) said it was obviously personal," Dingell said.
Dingell, a Democrat, said personal items that belonged to her late husband, Congressman John Dingell, were destroyed.
"They mattered a lot to me," the Congresswoman said, clearly emotional in her interview with McNeill.
"I loved my husband, and this office had a lot of memorabilia of history of his... So hopefully I'm going to be able to protect what was in there, and restore any damage," Dingell said.
No suspects have been named or described as the investigation continues. Unfortunately, Dingell said security cameras at the office were not working at the time of the break-in, so there is no footage of the perpetrators.
